| Love Exiles FoundationCurrently only 16 countries allow a citizen or resident to sponsor his or her same-sex partner for immigration. If you are from a country that does not recognize gay and lesbian relationships for immigration purposes, you cannot sponsor your partner to legally reside with you in your home country. Your legal choices typically include: your partner gets a short-term work or student visa (if he or she is lucky enough to qualify) and you deal with the problem all over again when the visa expires...endure long term or short term separation...move to a country that will grant residency to both you and your partner (if you qualify to immigrate). In contrast, if you are a heterosexual you can marry someone you met yesterday, and sponsor him or her for immigration. Problem solved. The Love Exiles Foundation supports GLBT couples who have chosen or are considering exile in order to be together. The Love Exiles site has moved to |
